I am looking for a digital camera, about £50, easy to use, nothing complicated, for a gift.

I want a recognised brand and a major national retailer in case it goes wrong and needs a warranty claim.

Any good deals around?

I got one of these for the missus, they come in different colours: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-Power...?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1229174812&sr=1-12 I picked it beacuse there's loads of great reviews on the web and she liked its appearance! http://www.cameras.co.uk/reviews/canon-powershot-a470.cfm http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/digitalcameras/0,39030232,49296134,00.htm http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/index.cfm?reviewid=1965
You'll get it in time for Xmas no problemo from Amazon and theyre pretty trustworthy.

Got my daughter an Olympus x15 on special offer from currys. Down from £99 to £68. A bit more than you wanted to spend, but it ticks all your other box's.

How about this John,

Fujifilm A850 Digital Camera - £48.93 at Asda Direct.

Not sure about 'in-store' price but you could give your local Asda a call to find out. They normally have a section within Asda with various Camera's on view.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the suggs

The Asda one looks identical to one in Tesco at the same price.

I am hoping something better might get reduced but if I wait too long I expect they will be sold out :(

Steve, you tight git, what are buying your nieces, nephews and godson for Christmas?

Just bought the missus a book, "Escalators through the centuries" a bargain too!

At about £50 I have now found the Fuji A860/A850 and the Samsung S760, no other well-known brands. They both have image stabilisation.

I have read reviews for the Samsung (it seems to be OK and has face recognition, which the Fuji appears not to have. "Which" say it seems similar to the S860 which they say is OK.

"play" are selling a Samsung D860 at £50 which at first I thought was the same as the S860, but it looks different and I have no reviews on it

I have a samsung 530 kicking about which was the fifty quidder at the time.

To be honest, its a great little snapshot camera. Dont expect to be getting super macro shots or anything but for the price I really cant grumble.

Had it a couple of years now, use it as a backup and for taking photos of jobs.
