Man shot dead by armed police officers after firing crossbow at them.

A shame when anyone has to be shot dead, especially when they are obviously suffering from a mental illness.

But a crossbow can be more accurate and do as much damage (if not more) than some handguns.

Yes guns are dangerous...after this man with mental illness fired the crossbow could he have been taken down with a rubber bullet, bean bag maybe..............nah......................just use the old faithful and kill him

he'd been firing indiscriminately out of the window for some time..
20 evidence markers suggest that a lot of bolts were fired..

rubber bullets would just bounce off a window, same as a beanbag round....

Not really like a machine gun is it? A riot shield would protect the cops going in.

You do get Bolts that will go through riot shields very easily and repeating crossbows , its not like what we made as kids with a wooden clothes peg that stung a bit when it hit ya

They won't go through carbon fibre.

There are some VERY powerful bows about too. I'd be quite happy with the police putting a bullet through her head....
