vailliant boiler problem

Can anybody please help

I have a boiler installed, which has been running fine for the past 2 years, i believe it to be the Vailliant Turbomax 824e. The problem is that over the past few months the pressure gauge had been falling, however the boiler was working fine so i did not take much notice of it. It had even reached 0 yet was going well, i was advised that this did not matter as much, though i was weary there could be problems in the future. Over the past week the boiler has been making a funny sound when on, however this morning, it has completely crashed. When a tap is turned on the boiler switches itself on and ignites, i have warm water for a few seconds then it can be heard to switch off (ignition). After which the temperature falls and there is cold water, the pressure gauge is still at zero. What could the problem be? will i need to call an engineer?

Boiler needs to be at 1 - 1.5 bar cold, but never higher tan 2.5
Logic suggests that if it didn't matter what the pressure is, there would be no pressure gauge.
It might be an idea to read the boiler's user manual.
I hope it wasn't a pro that told you it didn't matter?

Was not told by a professional but a store manager where i had purchased the boiler from. Have read the manual and re-pressurised, all seems to be going well, hopefully there will not be not further problems.. Thanks you

so you had a turbomax installed 2 years ago?

If its a Turbomax then its not condensing and should not have been fitted since April 2005 !

Uh oh, sounds like a typical bloke in a shop; if he knew about boilers, he would work as an engineer, not in a shop.
Didn't your installer tell you how to use the boiler and watch out for the basics? I suppose you will tell us he didn't, as he sounds like a real cowboy.

Al,l but one, non-con that I have seen have been fitted in totally suitable locations but just as a cheaper job for landlords.
