Are you a smoker, RF?

FWIW yes, and my local pub doesn't have a covered smoking area, never mind heaters, and I wouldn't expect to be provided with them.

If a pub wants to try and attract paying customers by providing a heated area for their smoking customers, then I say good luck to them.

So you think that consuming finite resources and damaging the environment for utterly wasteful, trivial and unnecessary reasons is to be admired?

Just how screwed up are you?

Mmm good point. We should probably ensure the heating is turned off in the pub and while we're at it using all those fossil resources to shift something as utterly unnecessary as beer around seems pretty screwed up too.

And if trying to ridicule by using ludicrously false analogies is not an admission that you have no rational case then I don't know what is.

Provide the smokers with a thermally insulated area and then the heat from their own cigarettes can keep them warm.....

can't do that.. a smoking "shelter" has to have atleast 2 open sides..

I don't see the problem with a smoking room where there is a negative pressure and an airlock door arangement.. ( long coridor with a self closing door at either end should do it.. so they can't open one while the other is open.. )

they wouldn't be able to actually buy beer in there though as that would jeopardise the health of the workers..

Yes you are quite right, and I thank you for pointing out the error of my ways. I mean, fancy not wanting to see anyone who tries to keep their business going being damned to hell for all eternity. What was I thinking. I have contacted my local psychiatric service, and all being well, I will be admitted under section 4 of the mental health act first thing tomorrow morning.

I take it you go on holiday every now and then?
so do you go for a walk down to the park and sunbathe there or do you hop on a plane to malaga or somewhere?
that's trivial and unnecessary.. you can stay at home on your weeks off..

watch tv do you?
how about all that electricity you're wasting just sitting there?
and the gas for your heating? if you went to bed early you could turn it off and still be nice and warm under the duvet....

I suppose I could, if like you I thought that a holiday was no more important than being kept warm because I chose to go outside in the winter but wasn't prepared to dress appropriately.

Every time you make one of those analogies think about it. What you are claiming via them is that keeping someone warm when they have chosen to go outside for a few minutes, when they did not have to, and when they could have worn adequate clothing, but chose not to is as important and as worthwhile as the activity you've introduced.

I'm not a smoker and would love to see a total ban on it, it's a disgusting habbit ( both my parents smoked 20+ a day until dad had his heart attack.. ).
however, for someone who chooses to do it, it is no less important to them that it is for you to choose to watch tv or turn the heating up a bit rather than put on a jumper..

this is purely about your rather rude comment to RF.. you can't just ask
Just how screwed up are you?
about someones choices that waste resources when you waste resources by the choices you yourself make.. ( and not just you, we all do it.. )

I can when he thinks that heating the outside is defensible, and ridicules anybody who thinks the practice should be banned.
