How To Bend Copper Monobloc Tails

Just bought a new kitchen monobloc mixer. It's got copper tails, they widen out at the end to 15mm.

What's the technique for bending these. Presubably I must attach them before bending, otherwise wouldn't be able to turn them? Do I use external/internal spring? To what angle is it safe to bend them?

I know you'll say use flexis. But I like a challenge. Plus, using these makes a proper job!

how far do you want to bend them ?
i only bend them enough to get a fitting on.

Yes, you must tighten the threads into the tap before you do any bending.

No, a spring won't fit inside as the tails are tapered.

No, you are only meant to bend them a small amount to accommodate the bulk of the fitting that you connect them to.

If you need to change the projection of the pipes by, say , 90 degrees, then you will have to use an appropriate fitting.

Just kink em, no one see's under the sink full of stuff, does tend to slow the flow down rather a lot though

i used to bend them out slightlythen slide hamme handle in between them and bend back so that they were running parallel. Nice and easy to do your bending and measuring then.

If possible, it's worth attaching the compression fitting at the 15mm end before trying to slightly bend the pipes. If you don't I tend to find that my cack-handedness deforms the end and makes it harder to deal with later.

basically you tighten them in straight, so they turn and go through the hole in the sink, using Rojoca's method allows you to tighten fittings onto the pipes, you only need 40-50 gap, then repipe up the supplies to suit this, dont kink the pipe to a tight bend as you will kink/damage the pipe

Don't throw them out; copper has good scrap metal value.

Better yet, throw them all in abig bucket at the end of the garden and i'll come around and remove those pesky tails when the buckets full.
