URGENT: Help please boiler at very very high pressure

Hi,

Sorry, it should go into DIY disaster but may be after I resolve the problem.

I was trying to increase the pressure of the boiler through feeding loop and have inadvertenly caused it to go at insane levels (maximum possible after read)....There is bit of water dripping from the bolier now and its making a hissing noise.

Is the bolier going to burst? Do I need to call out a gas engineer immediately or is there a way I can fix it myself.

The bolier is a Baxi combi bolier fitted inside my cupboard...

Thanks Mick, I have drained quite a lot of water from rads but that hasnt help. Sorry, but dont know what a drain cock or the drain point is.

Is it one in the picture here?

filling loop is now tightly closed but the air pressure is far beyond read with continuos hissing sound and water coming out...

I would try getting the water out from the drain point as suggested by Mick..

no you haven't closed the filling loop properly

the lever on the filling loop might have turned without actually turning the valve. Try turning off your main stop cock, then you won't need to panic and you can sort your problem easier.

I am still alive and the boiler is on life-support at the minute

So, here is the update:

After 2 buckets of water through the drain valve and turning the filling loop valve correctly (thanks twgas and kevplumb and your lad ) the pressure came down to 1. It then kept dropping and went to zero. I did the filling loop drill two more times as the pressure was repeatedly dropping to zero and then decided to put the bolier on when the pressure was at around 1.2 ish.

The current status is that the boiler is on and the central heating and hot water are both as expected or rather both very hot. There still seem to be odd drops of water dripping from somewhere on the boiler and the pressure is just over 1 at the moment.

Do I assume service restored folks?

Yes, indeed saved you some money for not having to send a wreath and you guys saved me lots of £££ by not calling a gas engineer at 19:00!!!

I dont think the original problem (pressure dropping and that was the reason I tried increasing the pressure) is fixed as the pressure is down to 0.5 ish but may be I am no worse than what I was 3 hrs back...

Sorry, what is a PRV - is it the drainage valve? I dont see any water there at least...

Any more suggestions to fix the original problem - if not, then will have to call the gas engineer during the day time

Until then few restarts can keep me going hopefully!!
