I would argue it is not quite so clear cut on the cyberbullying issue. Much of it originates in the normal mode of school/peer group bullying and then moves onto the t'interweb.

Whilst no one should suffer it, where do you draw the line between banter, teasing and torment? The normal pattern of children forming cligues as opposed to chav like gangs? peer group advice and veiled threats?

Much of this occurs at school but is conveniently overlooked by the management - intervention results in an audit trail and lower marks on several of the school performance tables and that just won't do will it!

Unfortunately the children are not slow to pick up on this and so the problem escalates until occassionally it ends in tragedy.

Regarding the issue of the Facebook page. I don't fully see the link with bullying. More a case of sick society.

I think it's fair to say that there's a fair smattering of mental health issues amongst the members on here. This place must be like therapy for some!

Maybe the answer lies in teaching our children to have 'respect' in the old fashioned sense of the word.
If respect for each other is part of our nature, then surely there is a natural barrier in our sense of 'right and wrong' that knows 'when to stop'

Posts on this site can be extremely amusing and the banter very funny, but there are times when obviously this line is crossed and it becomes pure 'nastiness'

I would be absolutely mortified if any member of my family young or old had such a blatant disregard for the feelings of another human being, as in the case highlighted in the news.

And before anyone gets on their donkey and tries moralising in this direction. I am well aware of all the issues, just a shame a certain school around here doesn't appear to be.
