lintel installation

Hi - I am putting 2 new openings in my house through single supporting brick walls on the ground floor. The lintel lengths are 1200mm and 2100mm. Do I need padstones as each end or just lay them on the bricks.

The reason I ask is I need to get all my materials on site before the builder arrives and also ensure construction is ok with BCO.

No padstones required for lintels. Normally.

However, there can be varying bearing lengths depending upon the workload, i.e. 100mm, 150mm, 200mm etc.

Not necessarily no, though 150mm has been adopted as a default setting.

In a lot of small openings, (door size) lintels will happily sit on 100mm bearings.

everytime that the wall is 150mm wide....
