How long should it take to comission a new boiler?

I recently had a Worcester Bosch approved installer fit a boiler and central heating system, he agreed to come back out after the house was plastered so he could comission the boiler. However we arranged to meet the installer and he didn't show. Since this, he hasn't answered his phone to us and leaves us in a position where we now have to call another plumber to comission the boiler/central heating.
Does anyone know how long a job this is?
The boiler is fitted but just needs firing up and water running through the system. How much work is involved in this? Am I looking at a couple of hours? The reason I ask is; we've had a quote for a days work to do this (sounds excessive?) and I don't fancy getting my fingers burnt again! :|

Def not a day!!! 2 hours would see it done with no faults and that would include a balance of the system rads. This is assuming the system is already full and has been inhibited and electrical work all ready to go.

Half a day tops assuming everything is there ready to run.
Problem is most fitters won't want to touch another persons work
as they are then responsible for it so will want to charge accordingly.
Send me a personal message if you get stuck with what quotes you've had. Depends where in Leicestershire you are. Not that far away from me.

Was the installer Gas registered? ( Like his photo is on the G-S web site and looks the same? )

Has he completed the Benchmark Certificate?

Do you know his G-S number?

Has he been paid ???

The problem is that IF its all correct and works first time it would take about 1-2 hours to COMMISSION the boiler.

BUT that does not include notifying to Building Control which ONLY the original installer can do ( unless the boiler is reinstalled ! ).

Some parts of Leicestershire are not far from Coventry!

If as you say its an all new system then it should be treated withg X300 cleanser and then flushed out and X100 inhibitor added.

Thats £30 of chemicals and another two hours work !

Notifying building control? Can only the original fitter do this then? If this is the case then do I seriously have to get it re-fitted? :?
Unfortunately we have paid him - I was recommended by multiple colleagues at work and I had no reason not to trust him - more fool me!!
What happens to the 5 year warranty that is supposed to come with the boiler? Does the additional work have to be completed by a WB approved installer in order for the warranty to be valid? This is turning into a nightmare!!

Depends on the model of boiler you have installed.
Some are coming with 5 years warranty whoever installs them so wouldn't matter.

It's a Greenstar 30CDi if that makes any difference.

I think the CDs come with a 5 year warranty regardless of who installs them.
I have been told that you become a worcester approved installer not
by quality but simply by the quantity of worcester boilers you install.
So getting an "approved" worcester installer is a bit misleading.

Have you phoned Worcester Bosch about their "approved" installer?

Yes I've phoned Worcester Bosch and they advised that there isn't anything they can do and basically fobbed me off with an email address to send in a complaint to. I was hoping they'd be able to give the installer a kick up the behind, but didn't so much as give an apology.

yes true, but if an installer is operating under the WB brand you'd expect them to be reputable. Surely there's an incentive for WB to ensure that their installers have a certain level of service, like answering the phone to a customer for starters? Otherwise it's there brand that's sullied everytime a WB approved installer turns out to be shat!

contact Gas Safe 0800 408 5500 with the installers details to raise a complaint. They can and will issue an order to correct any defects. My concern is if the appliance is connected to the gas supply pipe work without being tested, this would put you at risk of having a dangerous appliance and this is illiegal under current regulations.
