Wired (battery) door chime

Hi,

I'm going to replace our wireless doorbell (which is useless) with a wired (battery powered) door chime. My question is, what is the maximum distance the chime can be placed from the door push? Most kits seem to come with 5m of bell wire but I'm thinking I will need closer to 10m - will there be enough power? does it depend on the type/brand of wire used?

chivers67 - it is a Byron SX4i - and I would never recommend it
