give it a position number to go in the totals please :D

Soz.

1, Hitachi always break.
2, Silverline.
3, Bosch Green
4,?? (Had to make the split though).
5, Site
6,Dewalt
7, Makita Blue Range
8,Bosch Blue 240vac SDS rotary/stop/drill.
9, Bosch Blue 24vdc, best ever!! But not quite a 10. A bit heavy.
10, ???

its simply that people have nowt to go on except the price and manufacturers bumf
In that case......

1. Silverline
2. Any other cheap "no-name" brand
3. LIDL/Parkside (yes, really!)
4. Evolution, Bosch green
5. Ryobi
6. deWalt
7. Passlode
8. Metabo, Hitachi, Hilti, Virutex, Senco
9. Bosch blue, Makita
10. Mafell, Festool, Fein

Minimum trade/durable quality is really 5. IMHO. The non-trade quality is a bit difficult for me as I'm a tradesman and tend to avoid lower end tools (although I still have one ore two for use at home)

I agree with most of that except I'd put Hilti and Metabo at 9.

This is tricky, I can rate a handful of what I have and what i've used

Tesco jigsaw 2
bosch green jigsaw 3
AEG blue jigsaw 5/6
Milwaukee jigsay 6/7
Bosch blue jigsaw 9

Bosch blue sliding beveling chop saw thing 9

Paslode black 75mm framing nailer 7
Paslode orange 90mm framing nailer 9
Paslode 2nd fix nailer 7

Pro 18V cordless drills (used to be made by ryobi) 2
Site 18V cordless (makita red) 6
Dewalt 18V cordless 7
AEG orange 18V cordless 8

I actually have the Site, AEG and Dewalt all in service att he moment. The DeWalt stays on the van and gets used to everything, even mixing tile adhesive, The site is a backup which my friend is currently enjoying, have to reclaim that. The AEG is in my own house which im renovating so I haven't got to empty the tool out the van to do any work there, it's a lovely drill.

Concept impact driver - 3
Dewalt impact driver - 7
Makita impact driver (liIon) - 9/10

Concept autofeeder - 2
Senco duraspin - 8

I dont actually bother using an auto feeder any more so perhaps these will go one ebay if I can ever be bothered.

Maybe more to come....

A couple that may have slipped under the net . Wickes (grey), Panasonic 15.6 . Lidl Parkside (jigsaw)

All three, solid and dependable tools. in my opinion.

For what its worth, Sparky core drill (total CARP) difficult to repair ,company not interested, waste of money.

Whilst Hilti have a good reputation, i struggle to see how they can be so much 'better' than the top end mainstream. Clever marketing? protecting their well earned reputation?.
A friend of mine works at my hire shop and i asked the same question about Hilti.

He said once you have worked on them you realise that they are way ahead of any other tools.

The site guys who rely on certain tools to perform non stop shift after shift, 24/7 will always ask for Hilti. There are few tools that are built better or can perform better. The punishment they can endure is ridiculous.

oops, had an early wake up call from my little boy and was half asleep typing while he drifted back off, none are negative, just an inconsistency in dashes!!

great thanks for clarifying that
i was sure that was the case but had to check :D

That may be true of their breakers, but (from experience) it isn't true of their circular saws; for example WSC85 - brilliant saw (then again it should be, it's made by Mafell), WSC255/WSC265 - flawed designs with weak baseplate (which is why so many of them get broken)

...you may be right.

The contractor that swore by Hilti is a pre-fab concrete installer i.e. stairs, beams, sections etc and he mainly used Hilti - fixing, cutting, breaking tools.

He said some of the tools barely stopped for weeks on end!

Hilti 9 no problems
Makita 5 crappy battery life from new.Feeble cordless tools.
6 inch orbital sander, worn out disc pad after a few uses.
Hitachi 4 chop saw [out of alignment even after returning]
B&D 8 Hammer drill 35 years old and still going strong.
Dewalt 8 Out performs the Makita cordless, better build quality and performance.
Pas-lode 9 no problems.
Bosch 4 cordless screwdriver failed after 2 weeks, replacement just the same.Bosch planer blocks due to poor design.
Cheap unbranded table saw and tile cutter 9 still going strong after 12 years heavy use.
Wickes chain saw 8 no problems.
Clarks table plane 5 blocked completely and service slow and poor quality.Clarks welder high maintenance, inconsistent performance.
