Hi all

Boiler has just started tripping the electrics, fan starts ok, soon as it goes to fire. Electric trips. Initially I thought it was the pump. But alas no. Sounds more expensive. Any ideas greatly welcomed.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for all the advice. I have isolated the transformer -trip. I spoke to WB techies and they said control box - replaced - trip. I have disconnected the solenoid and the boiler does not trip but goes into lock. The solenoid stem is a bit dodgy, the locking screw was a bugger to get off as the post inside was spinning. Have ordered both and will let you know the results. My kids are beginning to smell :) I have Lynx!!

It was the solenoid, pesky thing. Thanks again for all you input.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal labotomy :p

I had these symptoms for nuway boxer b. 21 years old.

guys at work and a spark in the que at the parts shop said no it couldnt be the solenoid.

it was the solenoid. fixed.

thanks

Good point....!
Have you ever had a coil fail and cause this, just for info?
John :)

Yes but only one in the last five or so years I can remember, never had a spark gen do this but obviously that's not to say they don't of course!

My boiler was firing up (pre burn and ignition) and running for a few mins (heating and/or hw) and then would trip the mains electricity. I checked for any obvious leaks/shorts and couldn't find any; I then unplugged the water pump from the PCB and it still tripped; I unplugged the solenoid and it just made the boiler lockout rather than trip. Anyway, I finally took a chance and ordered a new solenoid (part number 071n0051), purely based on what others were saying (cost £23 on ebay) fitted it this morning and problem solved! :)
