Hi,

I currently have 3 light switches in our hall and two lights.

One light switch operates the left light only, the other operates the right light only.

We then have a two gang light switch in the middle. The left switch operates the left light and the right switch operates the right light.

I would like to replace the two gang light switch with a single gang light switch which operates BOTH lights at the same time. I also want the two single gang light switches to operate both lights aswell...

Question 1: Is this possible without re-wiring anything?

Question 2: How can this be achieved?

Thanks!

Nick

Can't say without detailed description or photos of the exact wiring at each switch, AND need to know if all the lights are on the same circuit.

Unfortunately some rewiring will be required, but you should be able to salvage the wiring in the walls with some fiddling about.

Do you you have access above the ceiling?

There may be some junction boxes somewhere. Photos of the wiring at the lights may be helpful.

Unless they are singles I think there'll have to be some JBs, unless someone carefully opened up 3C&E at the lights and cut the red core.

Or used additional connector blocks for the yellow and blue at each light fitting.

Well - by "JB" I meant something where conductors were joined. Hopefully not balls of sticky tape with twisted wires inside....

No sorry, I'm having a timber-induced nervous breakdown....

Argggh.......

Mumbles deliriously....bed...carpet...circ. saw........watch those pipes.......

birds's nest of cable.......where does that one go........
