Hi guys,

Two quick but urgent questions please.

To avoid having an underground bend, even if very slight, is it acceptable to have a 45 deg bend in the down pipe for the toilet foul on the outside of the house? I can't see why not. also means that where the down pipe enters below ground, will be slightly further away from where the extension joins the existing house. I don't know, but I imagine it's best to not have the open space and lintel for bridging the footing over the drain directly at the join of the extension and new house?

Secondly, I've ordered what selco call their soft building sand for the brick and block laying cement. Is this right?

Thanks

Mac

Sorry guys, just realised my explanation on the drain may not have been clear. I'm proposing that the waste pipe drops vertically, then has a Ben at say 45 deg to move it about 2 foot further along the wall and then vertically down again.

Coming down the wall at 45 deg is I suppose a possible solution, but never seen that and may not look very good.

Ideally you dont want any bends in the wet part of the stack, until the rest bend at the bottom. There are times when it cannot be avoided, but it can cause problems when the falling water and waste hits the bend on the way down!

No problem.

Often BCO's will ask for an access bend on 90 degree turns.
