Been looking for a lathe this last few weeks thought i could mabe make some air conditioning pipe fittings & mabe the odd agri shaft.
So i was thinking around 500mm - 1000mm between centers .
Been looking at Warco, Axminster, Meyer, all around the 3.5k mark
also enquired about a Colchester but £11700 + vat made me gulp then say ok i will think about it
Anyway i have agreed to purchase a 2nd hand Axminster ex school use if as good as described £1500 8 year old all the tools.
Can anyone advise on any faults to look out for.

Air conditioning pipe fittings? Agri shaft?
Is this a wind up?

Both have the potential too kill and maim, bodged up incorrectly on a home lathe.
And in any case a lathe is useless in either case.

You go too Dean and Wood for the ac pipe fittings and your local argricultural machinery dealer for the agri drive shaft.

Not a lot but do have one of these in the workshop and was using it today in fact. Almost 8hp in that big beastie.
A Colchester Mascot 1600. Highly sought after and a fine piece of engineering.

And have this little model almost completed which was done on my Delta wood lathe. Real purdy innit?

Used to make quite a few bushings for digger buckets and dump trailer axels.
Also the odd brake disc skim.
Was skimming a pin for a log chopper yesterday to make it fit the 30mm hole I'd just drilled.
