lights pulsating

Have you got a standard lamp or table lamp with an incandescent lamp in that you could plug in to see if the same is happening to the socket circuit(s).
What happens if you switch on a large load like a kettle, immersion heater or electric shower ?

Hi all,
All the lights in my house are pulsating by the looks of it. Would this be because of the mcb?
Probably not.
Does the pulsating get worse when you switch on a large load? What sort of lamps are they? Anything else we should know about, such as solar panels on your roof?

What type of lights, and how fast are they pulsating. Several times a second or once every few minutes. Does it happen all the time or only at certain times.

The MCB itself ? Extremely un-likely but a loose connection between MCB and bus bar or between MCB and cable is one possible cause.

Is the pulsating regular or random? Does it happen all the time or only sometimes? When did it start? Any work done on the house recently?

The lamps are mr16 35w halogens and they flicker once a second for about five seconds and then stop and then start again. The only loads running at the time is a dishwasher, boiler, and a water heater for a swimming pool in the basement. Has been happening for the last two weeks.

Thanks for the replys so far.
