Hello Lovely People! Is anyone able to tell me if a Megaflo 250SF will work with a Potterton Suprema 70 boiler? My wonderful non Gas safe plumber won't commit to an answer and we're wondering about the chap giving us the quote.
Many thanks!

is that because he doesn't know ?

if you are proposing to get him to fit the unvented cylinder i hope you have checked he has the G3 cert ?

but to answer your question yes any fully pumped heat only boiler can be used with an unvented cylinder

i would also be looking at a diff cylinder, megaflow are way overpriced

Thank you CBF - feeling better about this now. In your opinion what would be an alternate to Megaflo - everyone around here just talks that - it's like the "Hoover" of vacuum cleaners"

CBF - And, as an aside, our plumber who is lovely, doesn't want to be held accountable for info on anything he isn't qualified to fit. We think that the guy that's quoted the Megaflo is trying to hoodwink us into getting a new boiler too - the innards of the boiler have been entirely overhauled down to the last component in the last year due to mis-communication with various insurance engineers so if it has the capacity we don't feel it needs to be replaced. We are from abroad and so our experience with gas heating is zero - your information is a great reassurance to us.

if your boiler ain't broke then carry on using it until it's no longer cost effective to repair, by getting a new boiler is going to save you between £100-£300 a yr in gas which may sound alot but if you consider the cost of a new boiler this may take you 10 yrs to recover, the avg life of a modern boiler is 10-15 yrs so by the time you have recovered your costs it may be time for a replacement anyway.

the only thing going for megaflow is they have an internal expansion system, i fit ariston cylinders, they do req a seperate expansion vessel but they still come with a 25 yr warentee (just may sure you get the stainless steel one).

have they tested your incoming mains for flow & pressure ?
both of these things are mega important because if either are poor then an unvented cylinder may not be the best option for you

If Hampshire's not to far from South Bucks and you'd like to quote then please inbox me on this website.

Where in South Bucks are you? I may be able to help.

Amersham - I can't inbox you though - the site says I'm not your friend :D

If you would like to quote and can do it by Tues then would be good to see you. List me as your friend on this site (not sure how that works) so I can inbox my details to you.

Thanks!

No chance of doing it by Tuesday. Do you think good plumbing & heating engineers are sitting around waiting for work? Earliest would be following week.
