Ademco, now owned by Honeywell, Galaxy now owned by Honeywell, the list goes on.

Galaxy can have 4, 5, 6 digit codes, take your pick.

I suppose all you experts know that continually trying different numbers to find the code will activate a Galaxy or most, if not all of all makes, whether alarm set or not.

Try 3 wrong codes in a Yale and the keyboard locks out for one minute. Add in the fact that the panel should be in a protected zone and you have failed and the alarm has gone off.

Like I said, Honeywell owns Ademco, He was playing with an Ademco Vista 4140.

Ademco, do you know what that anachronism stands for?

Many items, not just alarms, are reverse engineered to obtain the circuit diagram. Then the circuit is laid out on a new PCB layout which looks different to the original as the components are in different placesl but is functionally a direct copy. Maybe a few changes to components to make it look "really" different.
