Too little information to go on.
Do you have a multi-meter? - You might need one in this situation.
Have you looked at wiki electric uk - lighting?
Photographs always help - take one of the ceiling rose with conductors still attached and the inside of the switch - don't forget to power off first.
Is there an earth there?

Post a photo, is there an earth? what does the switch have in it? post a photo of that too. Are any of the wires different colours because they have a pvc sleeving over? Seems a bit odd having blue mixed with black/red but photos may make more sense.

Whats a multi-meter and I can't take a picture I won't be there until tonight it's old wiring but if the red is live n the black is neutral that would make the blue earth n I've never seen a blue earth before

The blue and black could be neutral looped in and out and the red the switched live from the switch.

Did the previous lamp work and if so did you make any note about how that lamp was connected to the three wires ?

Guessing about the earth is very dangerous.

It could be a single twin and earth with pre harmonised colours using a bit of blue sleeving for the CPC.

HOWEVER.....

You need to know a bit about what you're doing before pulling down light fittings and buying a multimeter is a crucial step in the right direction.

They're only a tenner from Maplin and easy enough to get to know for basic testing.

And a photo would be a great help.

There are loads of people on here who are very helpful, but we're not clairvoyants. There are many many ways a light fitting can be wired up. A picture would be a great place to start.

Well, a better place to start would be to make a note of what went where, taking pictures before you removed the connections, but now we are where we are, a picture is essential.

Because its a landing light n they are two switches will the black and blue both be neutral cause the red is live ?
