Could some tell me what the regulations are?

E.g can the fan isolator be fitted high up by the ceiling, above the sink.

Hard to answer your question accurately, as a so-called 'cloakroom' gets mistaken nowadays to mean a different kind of room.

If you mean it's a toilet, the isolator can be fitted high above the basin.

You can put it anywhere that's not going to be affected by the environment (splashing etc)

Have a socket as well, if you like.

So what are the rules about light switches in the same location.

Must a pull cord be used?

I notice mine has the light switch outside (I assumed to avoid a pull cord) but maybe not? Maybe just common sense?

You can have a light swoitch in a WC, you can have a light switch in a bathroom. It can be inside or outside the room.

All it has to be is suitable for the environment.

The old paradigm was to use a pull switch in a bathroom because you may have wet hands. But that doesnt work. I have wet hands in my kitchen, but theres a light switch on the wall...

As there is not a bath/shower in the location the regulation are different as you are not dictated by zones. But an amount of logic, with regards to moisture ingress and functionality should be taken when deciding where to locate the switch, but it can be inside the room.
