Hi guys

I have a brick wall inside my house which I need to build some bricks in front of (as the wall is too far back for what I need). The bricks being set in front of the wall will bring the wall to where I want it.

Now my question is what is the best way to ensure the bricks I lay stay attached the the original wall? Will I need to lay mortar down between the two walls? Will this do the job?

As I do not want to be left with a new wall that can fall if pulled!

Thanks.

If the wall is for decorative reasons then simply plug and screw fix some frame fixings to the existing wall

Use standard spacing for brick ties, i.e. one every 900mm along in rows 450mm apart You don't need mortar in the gap between the brick leafs
You can get them from any builder merchant and possibly DIY stores

How high is your new brick wall going to be?

Is it to be structural??

How are you going to support it???

Do you know what you are doing because I don't

Not very high at all I would say about 100cm it is an internal wall that I need to extend for decorative purposes.

Let me try and show a picture of what I mean this is a side view:

(Why) does it need to be a brick wall? Could it be something else, eg a bit of 4x2 and plasterboard?
