Hi All,

I think Screwfix deserve a mention & top marks for customer service.

On Thursday I contacted their head office to report a fault on my mitre saw 7 months into the 12 months guarantee. Straight away I was offered an exchange or refund. As the saw had given me good service in the past I opted for a replacement. No problem they said & arranged for it to be collected the following day, Slight problem here trying to wrap it up & making it safe,( lesson here always keep the original packaging). I called back & asked if I could drop it off at the nearest branch, no problem.

I took it straight down & discovered more good news, the saw had gone down £10 which they credited to my account.

The new one arrived at 8.30 am the next day.

Well done Screwfix.

Pity we don't hear more compliments when we receive good service from someone.

We have become a nation of complainers at the slightest inconvenience.

Well done Screwfix.

Yeah I had a problem with my DW718v mitre saw, and bench, my ex wife nicked it, however the police didn't seem in the slightest bit interested. :(

Never mind she might cut her throat with it. Whoooooops what have I said.

Well played for giving credit where it is due :)

I feel that I have to add balance though - my local Screwfix seems to have taken "just in time" stock maintenance a bit far, over the last year or so, to the point where I expect the stuff I have gone in for to be out of stock.
Ok, they'll get it in tomorrow, and text you to tell you, but that is not much good on a Sunday, when you have work on Monday........

I usually check the local branches stock on their website before going. Certain fast moving stuff, they seem to have high levels of stock. Some of the slower, and often bigger stuff, isn't stocked so much.

I've only had good service from Screwfix and Toolstation seems good too. Good thing about T/S is that more often than not, they're cheaper than S/F. T/S really wins though on free next day delivery only having to spend a tenner (£50 at S/F).

I completely agree.

I'd like to say that I have just had some very welcome help from Argos customer services, and would firmly recommend them. I'd rather not give details in case it 'opens flood gates', but they made a generous concession to me.

My local can be relied upon to not have it in stock  I Always check stock online. They cut supply /stock chains to the bone.

I must be getting old as the (seeming) 12 year old staff, used to grin and suggest i pay today and collect tommorow. When not impressed they advise I visit the b£q

Things could be far worse.

You could have the saw.....but your ex might not be your ex.....

Is this the world's first case of wife leaves man for power tool? ;)

For a circular saw? Now if it were a reciprocating saw.. ;)
