I'm in Kingston upon Thames.

I've had a quote from a plumbing company, and they quoted me £1160 for labour, and then told me it would take one engineer about 2 days.

Is this really the daily rate of a gas safe engineer?

New boiler, Worcester Bosh 28i Junior. Relocating to the bathroom (from bedroom) which is about 4m away, the flue would run about 1m right from the boiler. The gas main is behind the new location - but water pipes would run back to old location. Old location would be cleaned up of any existing pipes.

Total came to £3316.10.

We estimate that the work will take one engineer approximately two days to complete.

As discounts have been applied to your quote the break down will not add up to the price quoted the prices are as such, not precise. The prices below include VAT

Labour = £1160
Boiler and Filling Link = £1415
Flue and Flue Accessories = £576
Corrosion Filter (TF1) = £146
In line scale inhibitor = £86
Cleanser and Inhibitor = £56
Copper 22mm & 15 mm Tube = £328
Controller = £199

Consumables, collection/delivery, pipe fittings disposal of rubbish/rubble are not priced as charges they are included as part of the package.

The five year guarantee on the boiler is subject to an annual service, however it is also included at no additional cost, as is notification to the Gas Safe Register.

Get another three more quotes, seem too high.

Worcester Bosch 28i junior ( that a greenstar, isn't it ) cost £750 plus vat.
Flue is way too high, can get it for £70 for standard flue to rear.

Daniel.

I wont comment on prices this isnt a price comparison website but your comment about the 5 year warranty being subject to an annual service is the same with any boiler no matter who makes it or installs it.

No. It's a bit cheap really. I'm a one man band and I regularly make a grand a day on this kind of work. Mind you have you seen the price of ivory back scratchers lately?

Some of the items in that quote are ridiculous...get a few more quotes.

I'd also consider the CDi Classic model...it's a far superior boiler over the Junior or Classic range

I am actually looking at the 28 CDI Compact. The CDi Classic is too big, and it's only a 2 bed flat with 1 bathroom.

Do they all need to be hooked up to drainage for the condense pipe, or is that just the junior? The worcester brochure has a spec guide and both the juniors don't have this feature "Condenses in domestic hot water and central heating modes"... what does this mean...?? is it related? My current boiler doesn't appear to be linked to drainage as far as I can tell.

All condensing boilers need to be connected to the drainage, they are a little more efficient than the previous generation and condense the water in the flue gas.

Forget all the marketing carp about condensing in certain modes...makes negligable difference and they're just scoring points.

The Worcester Compact is a very recently launched model with no history....everything's new on it so you take a chance.

The classic really won't fit?

Well, I suppose it would fit - i was just thinking if I could get away with a smaller one, it would be better.
