Just a quick question about thermal stores, hopefully while Drivel isn't about.

Have they improved or are they still as awful as they were?

Reason I ask, is that I would like mains pressure hot water one day, but would like to DIY it, and I don't have a G3 ticket. Also I would like to avoid the yearly service cost. I've lived in a few places with combi's and didn't like them. Thanks.

Thanks Dan - I'm sure I am quite capable of making something once I've done a few calcs.

I guess technically, if it has an external ss hx it's a Heatbank?

Is Dr Drivel aka Water Systems etc still with us? Not read anything of his for a while??!!

If he posts here I will be ignoring him, he's had more aliases than I've had hot dinners, but no amount of underlining, bold type and insults will ever convince me he has a clue

Don't see how he doesn't have a clue. This was a system design he advocated......

Weather compensated flow through an integrated thermal store with dhw coil.
The store acts as a buffer to prevent cycling and also acts as a low loss header.
Not to shabby eh? And its a real miser on oil consumption.

Is this some kind of confession Nobby?

A person who never makes a mistake, never makes anything.

Put that as your signature instead dom.

That's the hardware btw. Now go and do a google on how its done.
