Bear with me on this one..

Installed a security light outside that 'should' power off when not activated by movement but switchs back on immediately even if nothing triggers it once its dusk setting kicks in?So it almost permanantly on.

I just wired it into the existing wiring which was standard 3 core that runs from a switch indoors.

Tried partially covering the motion sensor but still does it so I'm thinking a wiring issue -maybe it should be wired differently?

The old light never had a motion sensor on it if that matters?

Any ideas

Thanks as usual

If you followed the instructions & connected & set it up properly it sounds more like a faulty light to me.

Thanks will check.

Silly question but my car is parked in front of it on the drive and less than 10 ft away from the sensor is this likely to keep triggering it even though it's stationery?

Some sensors are very sensitive to movement of animals, foliage and even gases given from externally vented flues, so I would check this is not causing continuous activity.

If you have the dusk-dawn setting correct, then check that you have the time set at the desired time period, I assume it is not only dusk-dawn and also has the timer setting? Some don't and if that is the case it will stay on throughout the dusk-dawn period.

So what model of light do you have?

There are no settings on it to adjust its just sensor activated. It's a half lantern style from Homebase

Seems to be working ok as it only activates at dusk when I need it to luckily

Monitored it last night and there is nothing close by that moves to keep activating it?

Thanks will check.

Sounds like the car would be better placed in a desk tidy.
