Radiators sliding down brackets

The radiators I've bought came with 4 coach screws and plugs (40-50mm long), the problem is the wall is thermaline plasterboard and after that stone work, so there isn't enough depth in the wall to be able to screw in the coach screws tight enough to hold the brackets firm enough not slide down once the radiator is on. Typical bugger of a problem that often finds its way to me.

What should I do? Should I buy longer coach screws and plugs, if so what do I buy? I've drilled one hole 100mm and used a hammer fixing, but the heads of them are so weak they burr up after a few turns rendering them useless.

What size is the rad?
Window fixing screws and rawl plugs should do the trick.

Use bottom oval slots in brackets and top circular holes. Use coach screw long enough to go at least 50 mm into blocks. I always use washers under coach screw heads.

Mark / drill lower holes into blocks. Cut out plasterboard around drill holes, make up wooden plugs to fill depth of plaster board with hole through middle.

Bolt brackets through bottom holes only. Level brackets and mark top drill holes. Drill and plug as for lower holes. Fix.

The one I'm struggling with is 700x700 (so not especially large), it's the limited depth causing the problem. If I buy some of these and the heads bur I shall be ****ed off

What to use to fit blocks to wall?

I use the ones that expand behind the plasterboard when you pull them tight... Cavity fixing screws I think you call them? Got a K2 1600x600 mounted on a plasterboard wall in my living room that's holding fine :). Or am I misunderstanding the wall?

I don't understand the problem.

You've got some screws that are too short. So buy some longer screws.

Yep. Get yourself down to Been & Queued. They.ve got plenty of long screws and matching plugs in the same pack.

If it's a "Dot and Dab" wall (plasterboard fixed onto block work with dabs of adhesive) use Dryline Pro fixings, they are the dogs whats it's.
I use them all the time, fitted rads, huge televisions, shelves all rock solid.

As above use slots first to level brackets / radiator, when levelled up fix through holes so bracket can't slide down.
