Do modern kettles, i.e. the ones you put on a base work by induction? Is there a coil in the bottom of the removable bit of the kettle? if so, and if they are more efficient than an induction hob (or not) would saucepans and frying pans work better if they had bases like kettles? I've never had an induction hob so I don't know how much lost heat there is.
Oh hum, it looks like we're going to end up with more air time about who's being more offensive than the OP.![]()
idiotic commentWhatever the answer, the EU will soon have us using flint & kindling.

Sorry, big-all. It was potentially misleading, weren't it? I should have used a comma or two.Oh hum, it looks like we're going to end up with more air time about who's being more offensive than the OP.![]()

As a fellow tight-a**e, may I recommend positioning the kettle in sunlight, which will add a degree or two to its initial temperature.
It will only work in the Summer, of course.
