Will erp actually help the public?

I have forgotten what it was; but there was some aspect of that EU rating that did not make any sense.

Like when I was having my house SAP rated. All ready to show him the loft and the 300 mm of insulation we had put up there the day before.

But he said the loft insulation made no difference to his energy efficiency rating so he did not need to look in the loft!

Hmmm... Perhaps he just wasn't keen on getting into the loft with a bloke wearing a Sari and carrying a blowtorch.

I'm going to watch with interest to see how many boiler installers bother to do this, after all, the customers aren't interested, didn't ask for it, and are paying for it whether they like it or not (most manufacturers are raising prices to make their products meet the Erp).

Who is going to police the Erp labels, FFS?

Obviously no one!

Some may remember the Energy Efficiency course we had to pay £50 for about 8 years ago and if we did not do it then we would not be allowed to continuing fitting boilers! Never saw anyone ever checked to see if they had the Cert.

All makers will be paying lip service to it.

I don't see any benefit to anyone with heating though, not because its not a theoretically good idea, but because the efficiency of a heating system depends on the user settings and none more so than WC installations. ( It may have been WC which is not taken into account in these ErP assessments. )

But for fridges and freezers I find them very useful indeed when choosing an appliance and always look at it when checking a model.

Well, at the risk of being a jobsworth, I try not to be, I just read some stuff on it.

The Department of Measurement (formerly the Dept of weights and Measures) are looking after it. They have nobody to check anything particularly. They are to monitir it for one year then have a meeting with DECC next Sept to see what has evolved.

We've had guys doing the Energy Cert recently because a prospective employer requires it - not saying it's a great thing, just we've had guys doing it. Agile, you are wrong regarding the ErP, better get to a training session or evening.

I will bet a pound to a pinch of schit that many installers will be as accurate with these "Fiches" as they are with the benchmarks.
As usual fook all will be enforced!
