OK, how about: Cairo, Riyadh, Jeddah, Casablanca, Alexandria, Algiers, Mecca, Tripoli, etc, etc, etc.
.

Have you lived in any of these cities? Of course I can't go and live in Mecca but when you go don't forget to wear a hard hat to protect you from cranes falling over...Of course it is seen as the greatest honour to actually die in Mecca as you would be buried there. Jeddah and Riyadh are toilets of the first order, I spent months there trying to prevent the locals from killing themselves with botulism.

Coastline of the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Jeddah is considered a big tourist destination in Saudi Arabia, and it is the most liberal part of the country with much diversity in its population.
Looks like you did an excellent job.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital and main financial hub, is on a desert plateau in the country’s center. Business district landmarks include the 302m-high Kingdom Centre, with a sky bridge connecting 2 towers, and 267m-high Al Faisaliah Centre, with a glass-globe summit.
You've rebuilt Riyadh as well, well done.

I only saved them from food poisoning.. A huge part of Saudi was constructed by Bin Laden Construction, the majority of its workers are Indian, Sudanese or from the Philippines.

That beach is indeed nice, let us hope that they have now sorted the sewerage issue out... It's a great place to catch some eye candy, if you like looking at fat hairy men...

Go live there for a few months and tell us how great it is..

Arabs built neither Dubai nor Abu Dhabi..
A huge part of Saudi was constructed by Bin Laden Construction, the majority of its workers are Indian, Sudanese or from the Philippines.

A bit of a contradiction going on here, me thinks.
Or would you suggest that the workers were doing the directing and the bosses were just manual labourers?
Or are you now trying to suggest that Saudi Arabia was built by terrorists.
You're full of senseless, histrionic, indefensible twaddle.

BTW, you'd have been better off trying to save Americans from botulism, There's been far more outbreaks of botulism (and other communicable diseases) in USA than Saudi Arabia. USA even exported botulism in baby food . (As did New Zealand)

Incidentally, the Bin Laden group did some work in Jerusalem as well. Pity the Israelis couldn't do it.

I don't know, was it built by terrorists?

My point was that they are a large construction company with Saudi nationals in offices and foreign labour actually doing the work.. This has always been the point.

It seems that you have great enthusiasm for Saudi... Go live there for a little while and let us know what you think. I would quite happily go and live in Israel and have lived in Arab countries.. Go on off you go.

Not so! Your original point was:
If you look at what the Israelis have done with their small patch of land in a few short years and then look at what the Arabs have done with theirs over thousands of years, it does make you wonder

That depends on what point I'm making at the time, you seem to have missed them all... So you are saying that you would rather live in Jeddah than any given city in Israel?

A good read so far imo.
Very interesting exchange of views and pleased it's not been locked.

I understand just fine thanks but I understand Arabs better, I have lived among them for many years...
What would a refrigeration and air conditioning engineer be doing working for HMRC?
As it's quiet, and some were being entertained and amused........
So I assume you migrated in search of work?
Was that because there was no work at home, or because the pay was better?

Because Norman Tebbit said "Get on your bike" there was little need for my skills in the UK at that time and the Middle East needed my skills..... Note, my skills were needed. Once they were no longer needed I was required to leave. A fair and reasonable policy to any reasonable person

So, from your reply, you migrated in search of work.

Doesn't that make your comment, above, neither accurate nor altruistic.
You simply did what you were told to do for financial gain.

Nowt wrong with working for financial gain. It's what most of aspire to. But to pass off a parsimonious activity as some altruistic pursuit is a little dishonest, don't you think?

While you were there, did you make an effort to learn the language (NB sp), absorb the culture or integrate into society?
