Is this a bathroom disaster?

Hi,
This isn't my own DIY disaster but just wondering if a bathroom builder has left us a disaster. I tripped up over our bath panel and decided to have a look under the bath before putting it back and I'm not sure I liked what I saw! It appears the plaster on the outside wall was removed from below the bath line , so the wall behind front of the bath with the taps has no plaster - you can just see brickwork and the bath rests on just two metal supports directly on the floorboards.

We had this done over five years ago but just wondering if we ought to have it looked into?

It is not unusual to have the plaster stripped back to brick below the bath, it will have no adverse effects.

With regards to the two metal supports, do mean that there are two metal frames that have legs/stands on to support the bath, if so this normal, I would expect a central leg, but not all baths are designed to require one.

The absence of plaster at the bath line help that wall side of the bath inset to the wall which isn't a bad thing , tiles then easy the amount of sealant and the potential for water to run behind the bath.

If the house was old enough to have a cast iron unit then due to weight they were often put in position at house build 1st fix due to weight, size etc. If that was the case then the wall could never have have plaster, since at build the bath was in the way of the plasterers.

Oh... I though this was a thread about another of my mother-in-law's bathroom disasters. Luckily we had the foresight to cover the carpets in her room with Roll 'n Stroll when she moved in for six months while she receives chemo.

WTF? You sound like such a caring and considerate person.

We are actually, very. However when somebody stands while changing her incontinence pads, drops poo on the bathroom floor, treads in it then shuffles across the landing and around her room smearing it all over the carpets you will understand that hiring a carpet shampoo machine every couple of days becomes expensive and roll 'n stroll is a practical solution because you can mop it.
