Your either honest or your not, this guy should have been barred from his profession for life, it's not like it was a one off temptation, he was serial fraudster.

No sympathy, to me he should have been jailed because he worked in the legal profession he should have know better.

Jailed and ordered to repay what he's fiddled. 12monthy bar from practising isn't enough either

My Dads wife died back in April. She had left all her £1.2 million estate to charity. She was estranged from her 3 children and didn't speak to them.
Three weeks before she died when she was quite ill , her solicitor son changed the will, (somehow getting her to sign her name) leaving the vast bulk of the estate to himself and his brother.

Could he be struck off?

I think the wills executor was the witness.
My Dad has a solicitor involved and a barrister.
Will take about 3 years to sort it out. The estate includes 7 properties and a large sum of cash.
The inland revenue are doing a valuation also for inheritance tax purposes.
If it goes to charity I'm pretty sure those sharks get nothing.
My valuation might be well off the mark.
Her son (the solicitor) works for a high profile UK criminal law firm.
You would think he should know what he's doing?

Roger928, your dad needs to talk to a solicitor quickly ( a different one), It may be possible to challenge the will.

On the subject of the ticket dodger he's unlikely to work as one again.. though starbucks might hire him as a barista - criminal convictions such as this will mean he won't be able to stay a member of the appropriate professional organisations and won't ever be considered for any work.

The will is being challenged. The solicitor he has employed specialises in this area and was very keen to take the case on. I suspect he see's the ££ signs also.
It might be legal but I think he's on a very thin line.

He was refusing to make contact with my Dads solicitor for a while ignoring letters and phone calls.
Its quite a headache for him.

I doubt he's broken any laws. The best angle to challenge would be those who would normally have inheritance and now have none, and any marital claim the father has to the estate. If it was me, based on the limited info, I'd be challenging the title of the assets. People often leave chunks of their wealth to charity as some sort of philanthropic gesture, if they knew how some of the big brand charities are run, they'd probably prefer the tax man got it.

There are time limits for such claims, hence why the otherside is playing delaying tactics.

PS.. most plumbers probably make more than the avg criminal lawyer. Its not well paid. I pity anyone who has to act as duty solicitor, few trades would get out of bed for what these people are paid.
