Hi, a daft question but normally do people match the finish on Wall & ceiling? I am getting dulux diamond matt for hallway/landing walls but just wanted opinions on whether to get same finish for ceiling or go with soft sheen or something similar?

I always advise a matt finish for both walls and ceiling, more so for a ceiling because of light reflection on a silk finish just looks terrible in my opinion.
Same goes for walls unless you have very smooth wall it will show up every blemish.

Spot on, although that doesn't mean you have to use Diamond Matt on the ceiling - a decent vinyl matt or even contract matt can be used.

If you have textured ceilings, then silk is more forgiving, but silk on a flat ceiling is a bad choice, unless it is perfectly flat and you are a good enough painter to avoid roller marks. Soft sheen would be the highest sheen I would recommend on a ceiling, in any case.
