Looks ok but nice to view under the smoke outlet flange to be certain?Think it's ok, just a scratch.

It probably is a thermal crack, and believe it or not it doesn't have to go right through the metal.....cast iron can be malleable to a degree.
The white stuff is likely to be high temperature silicone sealer
If what we can see there is the full extent of the crack (if indeed it is one) I'd forget all about it.
Jotul use a ceramic gasket material if there is no rope grove.Funny they don't use fire rope there also.
