Plug won't open - wtf ?

Why would you do that? He hasn't said that there's anything wrong with it.

Hawk suggests he wants to get into it. If he has changed the fuse and the appliance is still kaput, he may want to check the connections to the pins.

Obviously if it is a sealed unit, he cannot do that, hence the suggestion to lop it off and fit a new one.

It's a moulded plug - there is no mystery.

Although I suppose that is yet another misnomer as obviously all plastic plugs are moulded.

It's not that there's anything wrong. Basically there is a double socket on the wall inside a bedroom side unit and so a hole has been made through the side to feed the cable. Obviously the plug has to come off for the cable to be fed through and then be rewired so that it can then be plugged in. So I'll have to cut the cable and re-wire a new plug. Rather annoying I must say.

Chopping it off is unlikely to affect the warranty of the (ex-)attached product.

Any one of the same rating will do - doesn't have to be the same fuse.
