Plug won't open - wtf ?

Bear in mind if you cut it off the wiring colours may not be what you expect.
I usually strip the outer sheath by the plug to check before cutting as sometimes both cores are the same colour or non UK colours on some imported stuff
Also once cut off bend the pins so it cannot be accidentally plugged in by someone

Hardly necessary if it's him and his appliance in his house.

I always bend the pins, I justify it by trying to do it in only five seconds rather than ten.

I suppose one possible problem on a job for someone is trying to bend the pins before the customer offers to clear up the rubbish.

However, this rarely happens.

quick bash with a hammer and jobs a good'un. Takes as long as it takes to swing a hammer and then go and collect the plug!

you want to put a plug through the back or side of a cabinet?

It even makes a handy disk that you can use to fill the hole afterwards.

Dear God, what is wrong with some people?

The OP is a man doing something in his own house:

Hardly necessary if it's him and his appliance in his house.

So to counter that, Rocky posts a story about someone working in someone else's house and leaving the plug behind.

Sparkwright talks about a situation where he, or someone, is doing work in someone else's house.

Assuming Hawk is going to clear up at the finish, and throw all the rubbish away, rather than leave the detritus lying around for other people to come across and fiddle with (isn't that what everybody would do???). he can just toss the plug out with the rest of the rubbish - no need to spend even one second bending the pins.

What is wrong with some people?
