Im sure the merchant navy and RFA can be used for delivering aid around the world..It would appear that quite possibly subs are becoming very detectable and therefore useless to carry the nuclear deterrent and yes drones etc are a game changer

There has been development in underwater submarine drones that with the pace of development mean that Trident effectiveness to remain undetected will be severely curtailed.

Drones will totally change the battlefield and warfare.

The US carriers are designed for intensive take-off and landings at the same time. The angled flight deck allows for aborted landings, where the plane then then just fly on, without crashing into planes on other parts of the deck.

The UK carriers are designed for the vertical landing version of the F35, so need the ramp to aid take off, but don't need the runway for landing - they will just drop down near the back of the deck. Plus there will be more helicopters, not needing a runway. Its the same as the previous Invincible class.

What is not clear to me is why there are two towers. I know one is for the ship and one for the flight squadron, but it seems like a massive amount of space wasted for two towers, when one can host both.

"Russia has dismissed the Royal Navy's new aircraft carrier as "just a convenient, large maritime target".

Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Igor Konashenkov was hitting back at the UK for criticism of Russia's ageing carrier Admiral Kuznetsov.

HMS Queen Elizabeth set sail on Monday from Rosyth dockyard in Scotland.

Later UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon called the Admiral Kuznetsov "old, dilapidated". The ship sailed through the English Channel last year.

The 26-year-old Kuznetsov rarely goes anywhere without a naval tug, in case it breaks down.

Last October it was part of a Russian flotilla that sailed to Syrian coastal waters via the North Sea, English Channel and Mediterranean.

The thick, black smoke belching from the giant Soviet-era ship attracted some mockery on social media."

Willy-waving.

There was a prog on Radio 4 last week about the German armed forces or should we say the PP state of readiness they are in , the lack of equipment & spending that the Germans put into there armed forces

there was a recent case were bye a German tank regiment (?) took part in a nato exercise.

They had to put broom handles on the tanks to simulate machine guns :LOL:

wonder if the german tank crews had to simulate the machine gun noise using vocals

"WorldViews
Germany’s army is so under-equipped that it used broomsticks instead of machine guns..."

The article was from 2015.

It is interesting to note that tiny Greece has some 1345 main battle tanks yet Germany only has 543... I'll wager though that the majority of Greece's MBTs are Leopard2's with delivery milage on the clock...

Supported and thanked by his "bra friend". :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I guess I will have to add this example to his catalogue of representative lies.

You are absolutely correct. My apologies. An oversight. I have edited my post to add the source.
