Swmbo wanted a fancy mirror, full length, in the hallway. Normally I send her away to allow me to fit it in peace because she can be distracting.

I couldn't fit the mirror against the skirting board because there was a plug socket in the way. So we elected to align the bottom of the mirror six inches above the skirting board.

I made the relevant marks at the bottom and drew a line with the spirit level so it was perfectly horizontal. Off this line, I measured up 1750mm and made marks on the wallpaper.

What did I do next? Get distracted by swmbo and then start drilling into those marks! They should have been 354mm apart. They were 450mm apart. Drilled one hole into brick. Drilled a second hole and felt the brick crumbling away. Only after I put the drill down did I realise my error. I sent swmbo away without mentioning anything.

After a few hasty measurements, I happily drilled holes in the correct places, put the rawlplugs up, screws in, and (eventually, with the help of some plunger type tools) lifted the mirror and fitted it in place. Old drill points were hidden by the mirror. Thankfully.

I get distracted by mine doing DIY for similar reasons as in this video:

concentrating is easier when she's doing a job at the other end of the house

Mine distracts me too, she always seems to show a bit of tit when I'm up high. I'm sure she does it on purpose!!

Is it still on show by the time you've climbed back down though? :)

Only if I've 100% finished the job, otherwise they get covered and I get sent back up :(

Enjoy it while you can, after 20 years of marriage nothing will come out for any reason EVER!!!!!

I've managed 21 years without getting married!!! Must be doing something wrong (y)

Can't beat a bit of up n down, though I'd far rather be holding laddered tights than ladders tight

Mirror in my house is at an angle because she helped, I was going to garage to get a level, she said no need I have an app on my phone for that, left it to remind her not to help.

Na mate, I think you will find this version is closer to the truth lol

I have to have my wife around when I'm doing DIY, she is the "fetchmecarryme" part of the team.
Just pass this, pass that while I'm up the steps etc. :)
