Hi,

Is it possible, and if so how, to convert a hard-line airing cupboard heater point to a standard socket?

Pic attached.

Cheers.

You can simply change the existing front to a socket.

Remember to do it safely of course. Isolate and test for dead. Disconnect, and reconnect a socket front.

Assuming the circuit is on an RCD (if not - no socket allowed by the Wiring Regulations):

  1. Turn off the power.
  2. Remove the existing accessory.
  3. Replace it with a socket.

But but but but but....

Why do you want to swap it?

What will you be plugging in?

Is there a door on the cupboard?

He, yes it's on an RCD. It's a fairly wide airing cupboard so I'm thinking of turning it into a hidden desk/office space. It will be a PC and Monitor plugged into it.

So it's not the traditional airing-cupboard-in-the-bathroom?

So that means you should install a twin socket, at least.

Then there's

Printer
Modem/router
External devices such as backup
Powered USB hub
Phone charger
Lighting
