Does anyone use one, how do you find it and what model/make is it.
My interest in these things has been sparked by the Drivesmart pro.

The free mobile phone sat-nav app 'Waze' has had every one that I have come across in it.
There is an app by pocketgpsworld I believe which also contains a database of popular speed trap sites.

The ones you fit in the car, are illigal, so I assume you're talking about an app, program, or database. Most sat navs have the facility, but you've got to plug them into the comuter to update them.

I am talking about a stand alone unit, they cannot be illegal because as you point out many sat nav's have this detection built in.

There were a lot of stand alone units a few years ago, but they died out with the advent of sat navs, and phone apps, and the latter may be the way to go, as the updates should get pushed to the phone regularly.

But when we talk about stand alone units, are you by any chance refering to the detectors that tell you when you're being tracked by a radar gun, as they are obviously illegal. There was a case recently where the police found their signal was being disrupted by one of the more advanced detectors that scrambled the radar check, and he got the book thrown at him. I could be wrong, but I think the only legal ones nowadays, are those that know the locations, not those that can detect the signal.

Doggit please get your facts correct,Like anything else there are illegal products available.

You been on the darkweb again :cautious:

Now try explaining that cryptic comment a bit please. Just what facts didn't I get correct.

Never managed to get onto the dark web; any pointers.

So why where you trying to get on the above ? What you up to ? Your ISP would have noted your previous action but you know that !

I honestly have no idea what the hell you are getting at Donald, or what you're on about.

They are legal

"Camera detectors are legal for use on UK roads. A few years ago there was talk that detectors with radar and laser detection may become illegal under proposed legislation, but this ban didn't take place - meaning that both laser/radar detectors and GPS safety cameras are still legal in the UK.
Always remember that laws are different if you're planning on driving abroad, and that in most EU countries laser/radar and GPS safety cameras are illegal. Speed camera detectors are not legal in the Republic of Ireland."

Can be bought in Halfords - http://www.halfords.com/technology/speed-camera-detectors/speed-camera-detectors/snooper-4zero-elite

However like mentioned by others I would much rather rely on a satnav to tell me there are speed cameras on a road. Also if you are not speeding you have nothing to worry about.

Looks like I stand corrected; I thought they'd been banned, and so replaced by the database systems. Thanks for that Iam

The cost far out weighs the reward. I would use a sat nav and stick to the speed limits.

Don't think you can get away with 10% plus whatever.....I've been done for 33mph on UK and 66kph in Switzerland :(
John :)
