I did wonder what the reasoning behind this decision was, despite the trash that the DM puts on its pages it is the second biggest seller in the UK, I think there is something deeper going on

It's a petulant protest. They don't like the Mails stance on immigration and Brexit etc, and Branson (who lives on a island and doesn't pay Uk taxes) doesn't agree with their viewpoint.

Commuters will just get their copy elsewhere, so it's a futile gesture at best.

some bloke on radio 4 news said it was racist, homo phobic and sexist . hence why its being banned. Bloke representing the daily wail in the same interview is Gay :)

Of course Branston is an EU remainer . ;)

do virgin actually sell papers?
suspect this is a complete non story
where words like no longer available get twisted

well perhaps the space on the pendolinos that used to sell them will make more money selling something else

It's a futile protest that smacks of safe spacing and censorship. They only sell 70 a day, so they're not losing much.

True the commercial loss is nothing. But as always with Branson, the action is designed to get as much publicity as possible.

Whatever side of the political spectrum, it's a worrying and dangerous precedent. The paper is being banned based purely on Virgin diagreeing with the Mail's political views and opinions. This is pure censorship. Compare with those in Liverpool who refuse to sell or buy The Sun based on their Hillsborough comments - which is understandable and completely different reasoning.

i really dont see what all the fuss is they are not selling it in the same way they dont sell Mcdonalds or burger kings is that scensorship ??
you can buy one read it and leave it on the train in the same way you buy food at the station and discard you rubbish on the train

I would imagine it will be difficult to avoid the tentacles of the Virgin empire, I booked a holiday last year and it was only when the flight info came through I realised it was VA

And here's me wasting my time, carrying it to a bin. Thanks for the heads-up, Al (y)

Woah, not the same Big-all. They don't sell EITHER McDonalds nor Burger King, so are even handed, but they are continuing to sell the Independent, the FT, and the Mirror, which just happen to be the pro-remaining papers, so yes, definitely censorship.

What amazes me, is that this is supposed to be in response to a complaint by the drivers or staff - who normally complain about the government, not the papers. Almost sounds as though they are using them as an excuse, or are the unions becoming even more milllitant.
