Roof done right or wrong??

I know it's your wallet, and not mine, but I'd still be tempted to get someone else to finish the job. At least it'll get done properly, you won't be waiting for the next piece of extortion, and you won't feel cheated every time you look at the roof.

My only option now is to get an ADR(Alternative Dispute Resolution)
I would avoid that unless you have a contract that specifically states it should be used.

You wont be any worse off by going straight to the County Court, and there are several reasons you can cite as to why ADR was not appropriate or expedient.

If you are going to pursue legal action then keeping costs down and having accurate records of what and why you did particular things would be essential. Independant report on the standard of work, and itemised quotes etc should be obtained and kept. Also a formal letter stating that the contract has been frustrated and terminated/ended and reasons.

You both have good points.... Most likely I am going to take a few more quotes and see if I can get anything a bit less.

3500 still seems a lot,it looks like dry ridge system which will just come off and be able to be re fixed.Tiles can be made to fit properly over that distance so no bonding gutters will be required and then it's just a case of re cementing verge and redoing ridge, your biggest expense is to put the scaffolding back up.I hope you get sorted as seeing this type of work really boils my pi**.Im based south of Norwich and what you have said needs doing would barely come to a couple of grand up here (not including scaffold)
