True, although there has been a big anti gun following that came afterbthe last school shooting.

I do find it shocking though how many Americans that are interviewed and say they consider more guns is the solution........

When the right to bears arms was first enshrined in the American constitution automatic weapons had not yet been invented, the most powerful firearms were muzzle loaded muskets,
If the American constitution was being written today would they still include the right to bear arms.

They wouldn't but not for that reason.

No Government today would leave themselves vulnerable to an armed population.

It's a mental health problem, not a gun problem.
Would you go into your local asylum and hand patients a gun? I should imagine the answer is a no.
Until there is a way to know the mental state of all Americans (impossible) then why allow guns? The case of this kid was he pinched his dad's weapons. You can't stop that happening unless guns are removed.

22 Mass shootings so far and it's not even half way through they year yet. That's a lot of innocent lives lost, not to mention all the gun related deaths from criminals, accidental, suicide... The problem with guns is that it's just too easy to kill many people very quickly. There is no place for guns within society in this day and age.

Not a relevant question.
Indirectly, mass shootings often lead to more guns and ammo being bought. Reasoning being that, when the politicians start to call for stricter gun control, the gun nuts "stock up", on the off-chance that their supply might get turned off.......

Number of deaths from shooting this to date: 5430 (doesnt include suicides).
Number injured: 9873

Number of mass shootings: 101

The sad fact is that a country that has guns as a major pastime and hobby results in lots of gun deaths.

Taken from a list of Prince Philip's greatest "gaffes"
10 - "If a cricketer, for instance, suddenly decided to go into a school and batter a lot of people to death with a cricket bat, which he could do very easily, I mean, are you going to ban cricket bats?" (in 1996, amid calls to ban firearms after the Dunblane shooting).Cars or vans/lorries are becoming a weapon of choice for mass murder, ban them?

I'd fancy my chances more against a cricket bat than an automatic rifle.

What must it be like living in a country thinking that anybody driving a car, walking around the shops, sitting in a park, anywhere, any time could be 'packing lead'

Road rage sir? Yes, Ill just get my gun out and shoot you dead.

Sorry, I didnt know you were the postman, you startled me, apologies for shooting you in the chest
