Boiler below 0 Bars, how to correct? making strange noise.

Well boiler fixed, the tradesman said condensation had built up and clogged something up. He had a strong accent and didnt understand most of what he said but something about condensation biuilt up and maybe pressing on something, pressing on the fan maybe?

Yep! Blocked condensate will do that to it! How is your condensate drained? No air gap I presume?! Straight into a waste drain!

I know the last boiler had a air gap going in the wall to out the house and when they installed the new boiler they closed the air gap going to outside as whenever it rained rain would come in. They did however drill a hole and put a pipe going from the boiler and connected it to something in the bathroom, I am guessing connecting the boiler to the waste drain in the bathroom?

Thing is, wont a blocked condensate happen again? how can I avoid it happening again? When it is serviced do they clear out any blocked or building up condensates?

Look in the manual and see the section about condensate connections - it provides all you need to know about how it should have been done.

An air gap is not a hole around the pipe, through a wall... it’s a gap between the Condensate pipe and the drain into which it runs... like a washing machine upstand.

And yes, it could happen again... should be checked at service intervals - make sure this is done from now on and perhaps complain that it appears not to have been!

Thanks, how oftern should a service be done? can a service notice that condensate is building up and prevent this happening again? It was installed 1 year ago and the landlord has not had it serviced since installed.

Landlord Gas Safety Certificate must be issued annually... service from us would include checking the condensate trap and cleaning out if necessary. Remind your Landlord that this is due.

Went to a landlord cert last week and they hadnt had anything done, from what i could make out... for 6 years, since the last tenant moved in! How do they sleep at night??

Before i was GSR i would lose sleep if the safety cert was a week late
