20mm Plastic Trunking

Would hituf (hi-tuff) cable be suitable for clipping to a wall externally instead of conduit......
Yes, it should be 'suitable', but, at least in my opinion, not very nice stuff to work with - stiffer than the equivalent size of SWA.

Really?! Wasn't Prysmian by any chance was it? I really like NYYJ!
I can't really tell you. For the reason I described, it is many years since I used "Hi-Tuf". I assumed that it was still the same, but maybe it's changed in the meantime.

Exactly the same here. Mine was also whatever TLC sold as "Hi-Tuf" at the time (I suspect around 20 years ago), and I, too, resolved "never again"!

20 years ago for me too.

I really like NYYJ!
I thought NYY-J and hituf were one and the same.

Does NYY-J bend easily?

Does it stay bent?

Does unroll into a straight length easily?

Does it stay straight?

Yeah, I was just using the proper name!

Does NYY-J bend easily?
Yes.

Does it stay bent?
Yes, don't forget it's solid conductors, even up to 16mm².

Does unroll into a straight length easily?
Does it stay straight?
Yes, just a bit of manipulation needed. Doesn't have as much spring-back-into-a-circle-ness as SWA.

Needless to say, the answer to all those questions would be 'no' in relation to the "Hi-Tuf" I got from TLC around 20 years ago. As I said, maybe it's changed in the intervening period.

Any word on GN3 from anybody?

I don't know about other folk, but I always kept my books, regs etc.. to hand when I was working, for my reference and to show others.

Risteard is clearly present, but he seems reluctant to make good on his promise earlier in this topic.

I wonder why.

That reminds me, I found the off-cut I was looking for the other day, then forgot why I wanted it! Anyway... NYYJ vs SWA bend radius, both 3 × 2.5mm²... 1p is a much tighter radius than the manufacturers state though!
There's no way that what TLC sold as HiTuf ~20 years ago would do that (unless, perhaps, one applied a blow lamp!). How much force did you have to apply to get that bend?

I've got some somewhere - watch this space!

Kind Regards, John
