There is nothing wrong will making profits or getting rich.
However as the government is constantly lecturing those at the bottom about standing on their own two feet and not to expect support from the state, is it right that these big companies should be given what is in effect a corporate welfare handout.

But they're not making much of a profit (if they were, they'd be paying more tax).

"First, the simple underlying pattern. The game is played by pretending to earn income that is actually earned in one country as if it had been earned in a low tax jurisdiction in Europe. In addition, the corporations use artificial expenses in a foreign country to set off against that income.

Amazon made headlines in the UK in 2012 for its astonishing sales pattern.
The Guardian noted that Amazon reported sales in Britain of $213 million, while its sales in Luxembourg were $11 billion.

What? Where?
Luxembourg? It’s the last Grand Duchy of Europe — a country smaller than an average American city with a population under 500,000. It’s also one of the world’s leading financial centers and recognized as being in the big leagues with New York, London, and Hong Kong. How can little Luxembourg be so amazing? It sells something everyone wants — tax avoidance at a very affordable price."

The game is so well known that I'm sure even retired plumbers are aware of it.

That's the nature of the capitalistic beast!

No it's not. I understand what you are trying to say but you are confusing neo liberal corporatism best scene as US Capitalism with capitalism.

Here is a simple graph showing how these neo liberal policies have hit working people hard in american and yet they can convince half the population that they need more not less of these policies. Some people really can be conned all the time.

Just look at the graph. These are people in work not benefit scroungers. The irony is that these corps use every tax break and deductions which they get to put into law through lobbying.

Thank you to your valuable contribution to the discussion on the international problem of tax-dodging.

Notch is right-wing and hates to see working people earning a decent wage.

A quote from me a few posts above.

It has to be stopped.

Monopolies are ruining this country.

I hate the fact that the highstreet and online is dominated by a small number of MNCs.

booking.com for example -cream off too much profit from small B&B owners

The difference is I dont whinge about it constantly

That is not true, they make lots of profit.

By judicious finagling, however, and with the aid of governments whose leaders themselves use secret offshore accounts and other dodges, they avoid paying tax on it

Perhaps ordinary citizens should pay a little more attention and stop subsidising these wealthy freeloaders.

I say again, tell the Hmrc, and post their reply.
