Hi Guys

I've moved into a new home which has the above boiler installed, I noticed the boiler was firing up a lot with the fan running constantly, it was also consuming about 150-200w of electricity...all of this was happening when there was no heating on or hot water being run.

So I had a read up on the Eco button and it looked like this would solve my issues, so I pressed the button and it went green showing it is now in Eco mode. That stopped the boiler firing up and down when not asked to but I'm still left with the fan spinning away and around 100w being in constant use.

Is there anyway to calm this boiler down it seems really hungry on electricity and any money saved with it being a efficient condensing boiler seems to be getting wasted with it being constantly half powered up.

Is this just how the boiler is designed as it seems crazy as it's costing me 2.4kw of electricity a day ( 40 pence ) even when I'm not using it.

It's the combi boiler, so does my heating and instant water nothing extra such as a water tank

yes it should shut down not exactly nothing power consumption as the boiler display and monotoring system still use a little bit of power

could be a few things you will need to get someone to have a look at it

Ok thanks for giving me a heads up I thought it was odd to hear it spinning away 24/7 but then I've never owned a combi boiler before so wasn't sure that was normal

You sure it’s the fan?, faulty pcbs commonly keep the pump running 24/7

definitely the fan spinning away at about 50% of max so it's pretty obvious..causing the boiler to vibrate too due to a few bolts being lose on the cover...piece of crap boiler ..that's 4th thing on it to fail in 3 months since I have moved in...Thank god for Worcester Boiler cover :)

The front casing has a clip on the top and 2 screws underneath....they were loose?
The CDi has been around for a very long time...very rarely the pumps can stay on but they are generally fairly robust boilers.
