I say hes a villain but only because his leak of Hillarys emails led ro Trump being elected

What was in those emails that made people vote for Trump ? You shouldn't write anything that will come back to bite you. I say he's a hero, just because he exposes deception & lies, both left & right wing.

I would suggest that regardless of the type of material released, if proved to be true then it is of great value to be in the public domain...

Just because that material may not appeal to one faction or another is irrelevant...

Authority in general hates openness...

I have to agree with most of that really.

Julain Assange is being chased by the US because he exposed things that they wanted kept out of the public domain.

On the other hand Assange did not redact material, like Hiliary Clintons private emails etc that should not be in the public domain.

Assange wont get a fair hearing if he get sent to America -I dont have any faith in their justice system.

You only have to look at the one sided extradition 'treaty' we have with the US...
(a harbinger of what any other deals we do with the US will look like!)

It strikes me as rather odd that folk are allowing themselves to be consumed with Julian Assange's fate but care nothing for the content of the material he "helped" to expose.

It's a 50/50 for me.

I think what he did is generally a good thing because there's a lot of underhanded secrets in government.

However I do think he had a bias and used his position to influence people as he saw fit.

However that's only presuming all the data he had data on all involved that was equally damning and didn't distribute some items depending on his own bias.

In short, good thing but I think he was a bit of a rogue while doing it.

The US based charges only have a maximum of 5yrs if convicted. He spent 7yrs cooped up in the Ecuadorian embassy so was not a bright move. He was probably more concerned of the Swedish rape charges, but used the anti-US card to gain sympathy.
