Help with fitting replacement kitchen light

Have either of the switches been disturbed / worked on in any way ?
With the power switched off ,and your meter set to continuity setting ,its relatively straightforward to establish which of the three twin and earth cables is the switch cable. I think EFL outlined the method in your other thread ,maybe you didn't quite understand what to do. Do you want clarification. ?

I was told to use a multi meter to find a wire that would make multi meter beep.
What setting were you told to use on the multimeter?

Between what two points were you told to apply the probes?

Any chance of a photo of this multimeter?

Lee,

On another forum, you posted this picture...(but not here?)

The cut too short black wire is the problem. ( = zoomed in version of the above)

It is supposed to be in with the blue wire. Disconnect all the black wires from the rose, sort out this black wire first.
Then start again with the advise already given by others about using the multimeter to determine which is the switched live at the rose.

I agree with your suggestion BAS ,he should get in an electrician .

My thread when dead so I moved on to another forum. Sorry

No need to apologise Lee ,but the pic from other thread that RSGAZ posted ,appears to show a switch. If you don't give clear info ,and answer the questions raised ,then you are not likely to get the right response. Regards Terry.

Lee, @terryplumb is totally correct, there's no need to apologise, the point I was making is that we need ALL the information in order to help.

appears to show a switch.

I don't think the picture came out for everyone did it, only the zoomed in one that I made? I've edited that post now, the first picture should work.
