The first is a link to a 4-window switch on ebay.
The photo is our broken one.

Does anyone know if the ebay unit can be cannibalised to fit parts onto the broken unit?

And can you get the buggers out without removing the door card?

The unit usually can be popped up and slid out without removing the door card.
No doubt the individual switches could be cannibalised but its the multiblock connector that would give you some grief - personally I'd try to get the kosher one.

Can't find a second hand one for love nor money. Mitsubishi want £86.07 + the dreaded for a new one. :(

I have half a mind to buy it and see. I'd like to think the connector on the back is the same for F EW as it is for F&R EW, but the Front only connector has fewer wires terminated.

Have tried slipping a flat blade driver under the arched end and was trying to compress the metal clip, but am failing miserable.

Don't know if it makes any difference, but that one has a diiferent profile on the curved end. The Carisma one is more semi-circular, the Spacestar one more like the top of a cathedral arched window. I forget the term...

According to Mitsubishi, the correct part number is MR 915960.

Perhaps I should attack one of the side clips when prising it out? Going at it from the curved end doesn't seem to be budging it. It will lift a little, but not come free.

To my eyes that front double sping needs something a lot wider than a screw driver.
I would be considering a paint scraper or credit card to hit both prongs a front at the same time as the side.

Take a look at this, it's new module to go underneath, instead of the whole thing...

It says it's compatible with your part number, but it also says it's compatible with the Carisma part number MR213985(the wrong shaped one I linked to originally).

So, in theory, you can buy the Carisma switch and transfer the module from underneath to your existing switch plate, or just buy that module above from Germany.

Still no luck with the window switch....

Been investigating two other faults I have found....the rear wash is not working. I have unplugged the rear pipe near the pump, and it is squirting good.
Next, I went to the tailgate, removed the high-level brake light and tried to remove the washer jet to see if water was getting to the back. It's all very tight for space and I couldn't see how to release it.

Then I discovered the driver's side blade was hitting the windscreen surround. Then the second speed position on the stalk only works if you hold it in a certain position; let go and the wipers stop.

WRT the rear wash, maybe you have to sacrifice the jet to get it out: it's very tight, you can't even get pin-nose pliers in.
The wiper stalk might need changing or contacts cleaning, I dunno.

Still, the car was free!!
 
OK. Have removed part. Turned out it had been removed before; that's why it was a pain to extricate, because the front clip was all mangled. Plus, the side clip as appears in some parts photos was not on our switch.

rsgaz: I think the module you link to is not a stand-alone part. It would appear from mine that you have to dissassemble the module in order to attach it to the fascia plate, not just take the assembled module and screw it to the fascia plate

Also, the part number on mine does not match the part number given to me by Mitsubishi. The part number on the side of mine is: MR773327. Put that in ebay and it comes up with a similar module but in LH drive format.
I have an idea the module part of the assembly has a different part number depending on number of switches and whether it is L or RHD and the complete unit has another number, not marked on it that denotes the whole assembly.

Price-wise, the cheapest thing to do would be to buy the 4-window switch with a blue facia. Having seen how fragile the interior of the switch is, I'm not sure I want to pull a good working one apart.
Otherwise, I could buy the dearer Carisma switch which is correct in colour and number of switches (it's even RHD) but has a different shaped end, which is no bother. Just need to check to make sure (I'm confident it will be) it is the same size.

I guess a 4 switch unit would be OK to fit (but the rear 2 switches obviously would not do anything)?
 
Well, I bought a 4 switch unit, fitted it and it works fine (obviously the rear two do nothing).
