You win.

Goodbye.

MOD: That's honestly a shame and when you were able to offer constructive advice, you were / are a genuine asset to the forum. Unfortunately you have a habit of being rude and aggressive to other forum users, yes you're not the only one by any stretch, you are however a common denominator in a lot of the petty squabbles, which as MOD's we have got sick of cleaning up.

As I've said so many times, both publicly and privately, I couldn't agree more. It really is a shame, given the potential for very constructive and useful contributions which we know exists - but so little of which we have seen in recent times. Ah, well!

As an aside, you mods deserve a lot of credit for having managed to remain 'patient' for so long!

Kind Regards, John

Much of the time, until a small number of years ago. Since then the valuable/'nuisance' ratio of his posts has seriously deteriorated, not the least because of a couple of other forum members.
To be fair I would suggest that in the overwhelming majority of cases @ban-all-sheds was to blame for starting any arguments. That's why he has been banned from so many other fora over the years.

That may well be true, and is probably one of his main failings. However, the fact remains that, just as it takes two to tango, it also takes two to 'have an argument' - so those arguments would never have existed to any significant extent had it not been for the participation of the other couple or so forum members I referred to.

Until a few years ago, I was always having protracted and very tedious exchanges with him, often of posts of ever-increasing length, (whether one calls them 'arguments' or anything else). However, I put a stop to that, simply by avoiding 'engaging' with him - and anyone else could have done the same.

I totally agree

I didn't agree with a lot he posted but his downlighter advice was sensible.

Not if a poster asked about a problem or how to fit them. All they were met with was "Why do you want those?"; and some implied ridicule for being stupid. That's not sensible advice.

"I'm thinking of taking up xxx as a hobby, anybody know how to get started?" BAS: "You don't want to do that, do yyy instead- only fools do xxx."

Get my drift?

I just dont understand the criticism BAS levelled at downlighters. Downlighters are the easiest and most effective way to create general lighting in a room if you want a flush ceiling finish.

Its possible led strip lighting may take over, but they dont offer a flush solution.
